Jeremy Lin Foundation partners with PGC Basketball to bring hoops clinic to Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, NC — Jeremy Lin, who signed a 2-year deal with the Charlotte Hornets this summer, wasted no time getting involved with his new community in North Carolina. The 6-foot, 3-inch Lin, a five-year NBA veteran, and the Jeremy Lin Foundation brought PGC Basketball, a nationwide basketball training organization, to Charlotte on Saturday, October 24, to conduct a free, all-day clinic for 35 inner-city Charlotte basketball players and nearly 15 coaches. The clinic was sponsored by the Jeremy Lin Foundation and offered at no charge to the players and coaches.
In addition, Lin made a special afternoon appearance at the clinic, sharing with the players his journey from high school to the NBA. He also discussed his journey of faith.
“The players were really excited to meet and learn from Jeremy, and they were so grateful for the opportunity to participate in the clinic. The feedback we’ve gotten from the players and parents since the clinic has left no doubt about the impact of the day’s basketball instruction, as well as the life lessons Jeremy shared with the athletes,” said PGC President Mano Watsa.
“I’m really thankful for the PGC camp because they ran such an organized camp teaching the kids basketball, but even more importantly, life lessons and values. I was most impressed with how much the kids learned as they shared their takeaways at the end of the camp!” said Jeremy Lin.
